About me...
I have a true passion for baking! I think back to the early 1980s, when I was a pre-teenager, begging my paternal grandma to buy my first Wilton Cake Decorating Yearbook. I'd spend hours and hours looking at that book and daydreaming about how I'd make those gorgeous cakes! Who would have thought that almost 30 years later, I'd still love those Annual Yearbooks and have a desire to make them even prettier than Wilton does! To this day, I still have the very first one! She handed down to me her carrot cake recipe, her chocolate meringue pie recipe, and her fried chicken recipe although that doesn't work too well in a bakery! *smile*
My great-grandma was an awesome baker too! She'd ask me every year what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday cake and my answer was always the same: Red Velvet! She made the best! I use her recipe today...and the icing is not Cream Cheese! She had one of the original Red Velvet Cake recipes that pre-dated the invention of Cream Cheese Icing....like the one the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City baked (only better!) It's so good! Four layers tall but super light, moist, and the icing is to die for! I'll even put the pretty little sprinkles in between the layers just like she did if you'd like me to...it'll take me back to my youth (ok, so it wasn't all THAT long ago!!)
My maternal grandma made the best chocolate chip cookies and zucchini bread I have ever had! Ever wonder why nothing beats grandma's chocolate chip cookies? It's because she baked every one with tender loving care...and that's how she taught me!
So you see, I come from a long line of home bakers. And now, my goal is to teach my daughter how to do the same thing so that she and I can pass it on to my grandchildren someday. That's what families do. I'd love to add you to my "family" and bake for you as well. When you need a special goodie, whether it's a specially decorated cake (birthday, holiday, wedding or "just because"), a melt-in-your-mouth cookie, an ooh so good mile high chocolate meringue pie, or any other sweet treat your heart desires, I hope you'll think of me and allow me the honor of baking wholesome goodness just for you!
